My wife and I are history geeks, beer geeks and lovers of adventure.
Although many communities are going through tough times, Harrisburg embraces their history and look forward to their future.
Harrisburg is a great base camp for visiting Hershey, Gettysburg and surrounding counties/ areas.
However the city itself has so much to deal offer.
Here's a few suggestions when visiting the Capital City of the Commonwealth.
The State Capitol
Theodore Roosevelt called this, “ one of the most handsomest buildings in America”.
The tours are only available through the weekdays. However the Capitol Rotunda is open 7 days a week and limited hours on holidays.
The State Museum of Pennsylvania
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a wealth bed of history, wildlife, industrial history and more.
With three floors of exhibits, interactive displays and more.
There's so much to see in this in depth vault of heritage.
Riverfront Park and City Island
On the first “ Park Beautiful” properties throughout the United States, Riverfront Park is a beautiful area connected with the Capital Region Greenway.
City Island features FNB Field, home of the minor league Harrisburg Senators baseball team. It also features a marina, walking trails and areas for fishing.

There's numerous places to dine and chill in Harrisburg.
Here's some places my wife and I visited during our weekend.
Appalachian Brewing Company - Harrisburg
The brewpub and micro brewery is a great place to dine, enjoy family and friends.
The Appy Lounge in the top floor of the property has concerts.
The staff is friendly and courteous. The food and drink offerings are high quality.
Los Tres Cubanos
An intimate, small Cuban restaurant southeast of Downtown.
Reservations are recommended for this local award winning restaurant.
Little Amps Coffee Shop
On historical State Street, south of the State Capitol; this quaint coffee shop has been a favorite for locals.
Many hikers, runners and tourists stop by this great coffee and bakery oasis.
Federal Taphouse

With two locations, State College and Harrisburg; the Downtown Harrisburg location features wood fired pizza, local and national micro brews as well as great service.
Remember, Life is an adventure. Get out there and live it!
