My wife and I spent the day at one of the Midwest’s most unique museum centers.
Cincinnati Museum Center; in the historic Cincinnati Union Terminal, host the aforementioned museums plus an Amtrak Station and a special tenant preversing the railroad history.
The Cincinnati Railroad Club (separate from the CMC) has been an iconic preservation and historical group for over 90 years.
They meet several times a year in either the Reakart Auditorium or the Newsreel Theatre at Union Terminal. Please read the article from our partners at Ohio Valley Rails for more details.

Going back to the CMC, they have many visiting exhibits throughout the year. Pompei is probably one of the most unique. Artifacts and casts of victims are the main attractions. This also has an immersive surround sound theater giving a feel of the fateful day.
The timed tickets allow select folks to visit in allotted times. The flow of the exhibition gives a glimpse into Roman life prior to Mount Vesuvius exploding.
Once we were done in the exhibition, we grabbed a bite to eat at Nourish 513; one of the few food offerings in the historic rotunda.
Then, we proceeded to the Cincinnati History Center, staffed by CMC staff and maintained by the Cincinnati Historical Society. River Landing, Cincinnati in Motion, You Are Here and Made in Cincinnati are the featured displays. The big attraction is the S Scale representation of Cincinnati; Cincinnati in Motion.
Our YouTube partners at Crossroads OVR had a video of the railroad and model layout as well as a photo gallery from our visit.

We then proceeded to the Cincinnati Museum of Natural History. This museum’s roots are deep with scientific and natural history.
A simulated cave trail, ancient artifacts from active dinosaur digs, interactive exhibits and an entire hall of space and aerospace history in honor of former NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong (Purdue grad, later UC professor) await your curiosity.
These things, plus an OmniMax Theater, a museum dedicated to children and play, and much more is yours to explore.
I could not recommend this entire facility more for a day out with your special someone or the family. It is quite the experience.
Always remember; life’s an adventure. Get out there and live it!
