Columbus Fury acquires Tori Stringer via trade with Atlanta
The Columbus Fury competed its first trade in franchise history Thursday, acquiring Tori Stringer from the Atlanta Vibe. The second year pro comes to Central Ohio in exchange for the Fury’s 2025 and 2026 first round picks in the Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) draft.
Stringer joined the Vibe in May 2023 as she was one of the PVF’s first signings. She is the daughter of former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer who was a 14-year NFL veteran and Super Bowl XXXV Champion with theBaltimore Ravens during the 2000 season.
She is a two-time All-American and was twice named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Setter of the Year. Stringer helped lead the University of Louisville to its first Final Four appearance in 2021 and was a member of the U.S. Women’s Collegiate National Team in 2019 and 2021. The 25-year-old also has international experience with Team USA, making her National Team debut at the Pan Am Cup in 2022 where the team won a bronze medal.
Stringer reunites with head coach Ángel Pérez who she played for in 2022 on Las Pinkin de Corozal in Puerto Rico. While playing in the Puerto Rican League for Perez, she was named the league’s best setter in the 2022-23 season.
“I think the addition of Tori gives us another elite level player, it’s another piece to add in our puzzle,” explained head coach Ángel Pérez. “We are trying to build the best team possible to try and win a championship, now with Ray and Tori we feel comfortable that our setting position is covered at any given moment. Tori, again, high-quality setter, an experienced setter, a proven winner, and again a great addition toour team.”
To make room for Stringer the Fury waived setter Gabby Blossom.
