Gas prices have you singing the blues?

You feel like you can't plan a destination vacation?

‍

It's still possible and you can go to Nashville.

‍

Nearly most folks in our great United States head to Nashville; the Music City for either a family getaway or literally cut loose.

‍

My wife and I decided over a year ago. Here's some things to know to don't break the bank.

‍

First things first; plan our route.

‍

We had taken Interstate 71 to Interstate 65 in Louisville.

Heads up, construction happens.

In a few days, the I-65 Central Corridor plans to reopen in Louisville. However; if issues persist, the I-265 and II-264 outerbelts help.

We took I-264 and did just fine.

Northside of Nashville, we ain't done yet. Major upgrades near the Kentucky State Line are ongoing.

So once in the Music City, where to stay is key.

‍

We decided to go with a central property; merely two blocks away from the west end of Broadway.

Cambria Downtown Nashville has been a great pick for a base camp to explore Central Nashville.

With a rooftop bar and grille, on site restaurant, coffee shop, and other great bonuses; it was an excellent choice.

‍

Key thing is; if you belong to Choice Rewards or another chain's rewards program..use it. It saves money in the long run.

The wife and I decided to explore Lower Broadway; Nashville's Honky Tonk Highway

Nestled in the First Baptist Church Nashville is Surefire Coffee. If you need a pick up in your step before moving on, this is a great place to chill and relax. 630 am-6:30 p.m., it hits the spot.

There are plenty of bars, dance clubs, concert venues, and live music spots. We literally stumbled onto Chief's near the Cumberland River.

Eric Church's love letter to all things Nashville has a multi level brick building with lives shows, BBQ and every thing in between

The wife and I took in "American Legend: A Tribute to Johnny Cash". They walked through Johnny's life, fellow Sun Records artists and American music history itself.

Once done there; we headed back to the hotel and had dinner at NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon,

Being attached to the Cambria Downtown; it's not only open to the public, but easy place to catch live music and a meal.

We did not even intend to do as much as we did.

That's the thing, Nashville; just in Downtown surprises us to no end.

‍

A very walkable Downtown, we just get started.

‍

Bring comfortable shoes, comfortable shoes and sit for a spell.
