Reagan Cooper earns Pro Volleyball Federation Player of the Week Honors
The Columbus Fury did not enjoy an ideal start to life in the Professional Volleyball Federation dropping its first two contests to Grand Rapids and Orlando. Turns out the Fury needed to sample some home cooking as it claimed an impressive 3-1 victory in front of 9,145 fans inside Nationwide Arena on February 21st.
Since that thrilling home opener Columbus has yet to taste defeat winning a combined nine sets and dropping two sets to opposing teams.
A driving force for the Fury's success is outside hitter Reagan Cooper. The former Kansas Jayhawks star was named PVFÂ Player of the Week on February 27. She led Columbus in kills across all three of her club's matches (all wins) and amassed a season high 22 kills against Omaha. Cooper followed that performance with 15 and 21 kills respectively in back-to-back wins against the Vegas Thrill.
During Monday's home contest again Vegas, she collected eight kills in the fourth set alone to lift her team to victory. Cooper also collected a season-best 15 digs in the home win over Vegas and amassed 33 total digs in three matches. She led the Fury in both points and kills for the week.
Her award marks the first in franchise history and she's the fourth outside hitter to be recognized by the league.
