Just south of Downtown Columbus; off Front and Whittier Streets, sits Scioto Audubon Metro Park.
The really nice thing about this park; it is not just for railfans at all. It was developed shortly after the demolition of what was once the Lazarus and Company’s large warehouse facility.
You can very easily pack up the family, get a picnic lunch, and much more.
If you are an average hiker, bicyclist or runner; you make this easily a fitness and railfan stop as well.
The park has a nature center, several trails linking to the Scioto Mile, a climbing rock wall area, playground, and several wetlands pond areas.
Panoramic views can be caught via the recycled Lazarus Water Tower with observation decks.
Now about those old warehouses..
The only remnant of said warehouses is now part of the Nocterra's Audubon Taproom and Kitchen, Homage's German Village location and the Bock Garten.

Open early to late 7 seven days a week....this is a new destination; as of August 2024.
Family friendly and open to the public; it worth a stop.
The dog park due to the 71/70 split project got moved closer to the Whitter Street bridge.
Speaking of which, due to construction..a one lane signal guards said bridge. So be aware on entry and exit.
The views are beautiful. Boat ramps and fishing areas along thee Scioto welcome explorers.
The Nature Center acts as the visitors center and host many events throughout the year.
A playground, massive climbing rock, nearby volleyball courts and the iconic Water Tower have many ways to unwind from busy city life.
This is one of my favorite parks to visit.
Life is an adventure; get out there and live it!
